Ruby Princess

This evening Ruby Princess departed Bergen for the final time this season. She passed under the Askøy bridge as she made her way through Byfjorden, giving a fantastic view of her top decks.

Built by Fincantieri in Trieste, Italy in 2008 for Princess Cruises, she is a Grand-Class cruise ship with a number of small modifications.

Their wide navigation bridges and rounded bows make the Grand-Class ships instantly recognisable. The enclosed promenade deck wraps completely around the forward edge of the bow, giving passengers an unusual viewpoint at the front of the ship.

Her top decks passed within just a few metres of the bridge, showing  her selection of pools and the variety of facilities on deck.

This evening her pools and jacuzzis were unused, as passengers enjoyed the passage out of Bergen from the higher decks further forward.

Her cage-like funnel leaves a varitey of exhaust ducts clearly visible
Next year Ruby Princess will move from her home port of Southampton and instead operate out of Seattle on a series of Alaska cruises.

With a gross tonnage of 113,000 and a length of 290m, Ruby Princess can accommodate 3000 passengers and 1200 crew over her 19 decks.
